Hello and welcome to our blog, each week one of us will update you on our progress. We are the Maritime Marvels, a group of colleagues from Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd with varying degrees of fitness, running experience, age and expanding waist lines! We are running in the Great Scottish Run 10k on 5th September 2010 and are raising money for Seafarers UK, please visit our site and donate, any contribution will be greatly appreciated http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MARITIMECRAFT. I have done a couple of 10k's in the past but have not done any serious running for a while, however I'm allegedly the team 'coach' although there's a couple of the younger members (actually there only are a couple as we are mostly 'old') who will be miles ahead of me in no time - and so they should be! Interestingly we have someone running in each age group from 20's to 60's with a combined age of almost 300!
We have started training, doing things very slowly to start and following a programme of walking and running, so please watch this space and keep visiting our site and follow our progress and see if we can make our target of £1000 for the charity, we hope to post some interesting photos too soon.
Another colleague, Nikki Kuyt, who can actually run, is taking part in the half marathon that day, she is way too good for the Marvels, maybe next year we will join her!!!!!!!!
